WENDY ROWE DAVID SEGAL AMANDA SWINIMER GLEN THIELMANN
Wendy Rowe, PhD, is faculty in the School of Leadership Studies at RRU and President of the BC Chapter
of the Canadian Evaluation Society. She has worked in program evaluation in North America for over 25 years, using quasi-experimental models
of evaluation in addition to models of collaboration and empowerment evaluation. She holds a BA and MA in Psychology, an MBA and a doctorate in Organizational and Human Systems, and has published several articles on organizational evaluation.
David Segal, MA, has been facilitating nature-based counselling with children, youth and families
for over 10 years. He is deeply passionate about the natural world and how human-nature relationships shape our collective and individual well-being. He completed a Master’s degree in Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria and is currently in private practice with Human- Nature Counselling in Victoria, BC.
Amanda Swinimer’s deep love
of the ocean and the rainforest brought her to the west coast
of Vancouver Island where she started her own business, Dakini Tidal Wilds. For 12 years, Amanda has been sustainably harvesting by hand, edible seaweeds, and wild herbs, and crafting products from these wild gifts. She has taught at UVic, Bam eld Marine Science Center, public schools and through private venues. She holds a BSc degree in Marine Biology, minor in Oceanography from Dalhousie University.
Glen Thielmann, MEd, works with students and educators with a focus on the identity of learners, the various lenses by which this can be examined (e.g. social, geographical, curricular, and metaphoric), and a close regard for experiential and technological tools by which this identity can
be realized and altered. He is immensely interested in the contexts that create our reality.
Valerie Salez celebrates creative tangents that deny categorical chains. Directionless meanderings, spontaneity, obsession, inquisitiveness, dreams, the unknown and the yet-to-be- discovered lead her life and practice by the hand. Her practice includes collage, animation, sculpture, video and installation. Valerie has taught art to youth and adults in Yukon, Nova Scotia, PEI and in Victoria
at VISA and Open Space Gallery. She has exhibited across Canada and obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
David Sudbury, MA, brings specialized experience in preparing technical documentation in support of training and development projects. He has a Master of Arts degree in Distributed Learning
from RRU and an in depth knowledge of computer applications and programming software.
He has extensive experience
in courseware development, teaching, programming, and project management at Cisco Systems, Inc.
Susan Thackeray, MA, serves as associate faculty for the Faculty of Management and School of Leadership and is a team coach for the Faculty of Management. In addition, she is alumni of
the School of Leadership and supervises Masters candidates OLPs. Her research areas include leadership development, organizational change, appreciative inquiry,
and collaborative practice. Thackeray holds a Masters
degree in Leadership from RRU and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Victoria.
Joanne Thomson, BA, MAdEd,
is a full-time visual artist working primarily in watercolour, pushing the limits of the medium to include large works on canvas. Her quiet and contemplative approach
to art-making is evident in her landscapes, illustrations, and in the Bottled series. She describes her works as “strong images created gently”. Joanne holds a Masters degree in adult education. She encourages her students to explore the creative process through research and experimentation with art making. joannethomson.com
