ALISON MORAN SUE MUIRHEAD ROB NEWELL MÍCHEÁL (MOLEY) Ó SÚILLEABHÁIN
Alison Moran, PhD, is Associate Faculty in the School of Environment & Sustainability, teaching microbiology in the BSc programs. Alison’s lifelong passion for hummingbirds
led to her involvement in the Hummingbird Project, a citizen science study started in BC by Cam Finlay in 1997. This project is now coordinated through Rocky Point Bird Observatory, and as
a bander, Alison travels all over
the province to monitor and
study hummingbirds’ migratory, breeding, and behavioural patterns.
Sue Muirhead is committed to sinking into the profound and meaningful aspects of our human existence – hence her longing to share her life lived knowledge and experience of death and home funerals. She is committed to providing others with awareness of options related to their own death and the death of loved ones. She believes in living fully and facing death with awareness and curiosity. Sue works as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC and has helps facilitate courses internationally.
Rob Newell is a doctoral student of Geography at UVic, a researcher and instructor in RRU’s School for Environment and Sustainability, and has worked with RRU’s School of Culture and Communications as a course developer and instructor. Rob has researched and worked on projects that involve developing creative and interactive ways of using digital media and online communications to disseminate sustainability research ideas, engage stakeholders and the public in sustainability, including RRU’s Community Research Connections YouTube channel.
Mícheál (Moley) Ó Súilleabháin
is an Irish singer, rapper, human beatboxer, musician, composer and actor. He holds an MA in Ethnomusicology and has travelled widely performing several genres of music. Apart from his own original pop songs, hip hop and jazz, Moley performs sacred music from Gregorian Chant to Irish
sean nos learned from his mother, singer Nóirín Ní Riain. Moley has performed with the Chieftains and Bobby McFerrin, and has been deeply in uenced and mentored by poet David Whyte.
Wendy Morton has published ve books of poetry and a memoir. She is the founder of Canada’s Random Acts of Poetry and recipient of the Spirit Bear Award, the Golden Beret Award, the Colleen Thibaudeau Outstanding Contribution to Canadian Poetry from the League of Canadian Poets, and made an honorary citizen of Victoria. She is sponsored by AbeBooks and was WestJet’s Poet of the Skies, and Chrysler’s Poet of the Road. She believes we are all poets at heart.

Mary-Anne Neal received
the Outstanding Achievement Award as Account Executive
with Southam Paragon Business Forms. She continues to maintain those professional relationships that began as cold calls many years ago. Over the past 20 years, Mary-Anne has enjoyed success as a communications manager, entrepreneur, strategic planner, program developer and public relations expert. She has developed and taught business and communications courses for Camosun College and RRU.
Stephen Norton started his career as a marine biologist, worked many years in systems management, and is now a full time author,
artist and publisher. He runs his own company, Northwind Ink, specializing in publishing and distributing soft-cover and e-books for new authors, in multiple
genres including novels, memoirs, ‘how-to’ books and poetry. He has nine published books of his own, including two novels, and several ‘how-to’ books.
Beth Page, MSc in CSP, MSOD, CHRP, is an author, educator, speaker, consultant and Dream Catcher Consulting founder, helping support people explore and act upon their leadership vision. Her recent works include Change Happens: Your Guide to Navigating Change using the 5C Model, Done Deal: Your Guide to Merger and Acquisition Integration, and a chapter in the best-selling Awakening the Workplace. A certi ed Emotional Intelligence Coach
(EQ in Action), she is pursuing doctoral studies at UVic.
