Applied Mindfulness Meditation Certi cate
Whether you are interested
in delving into a historical perspective of mindfulness meditation, learning psychotherapeutic strategies, enabling learning through contemplative education, enhancing your mentorship and teaching abilities, enhancing focus through contemplative arts, encouraging mind and body health, developing healthier work environments and communities, becoming a mindful leader, or studying the neuroethics of mindfulness, this certi cate program will foster the development of your practice, knowledge, skills, and sensitivities.
Grounded in comparative literatures of humanities and social science, traditional and contemplative medicines, the arts and sciences, education theory and practice, business and ethics, this certi cate program is intended to teach mindfulness meditation practices with a focus on its various applications within
a wide range of personal and professional domains.
There are TWO levels of training offered in this program:
1. Foundations
( ve modules required)
2. Electives
(four modules required)
Prerequisites
Both levels can be completed concurrently, but the certi cate will not be issued until all certi cate requirements have been met. No experience
in mindfulness meditation
is required to enroll in this program, however, we strongly recommend learners with and without a practice in mindfulness, take some foundations modules before entering into other levels as they provide a foundation
on which to build theory and practice.
Upon completion of certi cate program:
Students who have
met certi cate program requirements must email the Continuing Studies of ce at continungstudies@royalroads. ca to request their certi cate upon completion. Certi cates can take up to two-three weeks to process.
Foundations in Applied Mindfulness Meditation
These foundational courses explore the history and practices of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation, traditional and contemporary medicine, as well as case and research-based practice. There is also an exploration of the neuroscience foundations of mindfulness meditation. Students will
be required to complete all  ve modules in order to meet certi cate requirements.
Electives in Applied Mindfulness Meditation
Electives will lead students to apply the knowledge from the foundations courses towards a more specialized focus. To meet certi cate requirements, students choose four modules that suit their personal and/or professional needs from the list of fourteen courses below:
