Introduction to Cob Building
GLEL2951
Cob, a building material consisting of clay, sand,
water, and earth, has been used for construction since medieval times. It creates ideal structures; reproof, resistant to seismic activity, and inexpensive. It has seen
a revival through the natural building and sustainability movement. Materials are local, long-lasting, non-
toxic, and low impact. It’s easy to learn cob building
and it promotes community by building together. This workshop provides a hands-on introduction.
