Study Permits and Visas
To study in Canada, you may need a study permit and/or a visitor visa. Before you apply for your program and arrive in Canada, you must  rst contact the Canadian Embassy or Canadian High Commission nearest your home for details on applying for a study permit in Canada. Once you have submitted the required documents your permit application can take up to six months or more to be processed. It is essential that you apply early for admission to Royal Roads.
Most international students will need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) as well as a study permit to enter Canada if the course of study is longer than six months. Visit Canadian Immigration and Citizenship for application processing times (www.cic.gc.ca).
Student Insurance
Once you arrive in Canada as a student at Royal Roads, there is a waiting period of three months before you become eligible to apply for the provincial Medical Services Plan – British Columbia (MSP). Meanwhile, we offer a health insurance coverage by Guard Me (www.guard.me),
a leading insurance provider. It has been developed speci cally for international students providing complete coverage, and great customer service. The cost is $2.00 per day, with a minimum of 10 days coverage.
Internships
The Experiential Education of ce supports students in  nding internships, practicums, and consulting placements. Students are responsible for sourcing opportunities for placement and our team will help you through the steps required to secure your opportunity. Workshops will be held through your program to get you started.
