Introduction to Calligraphy
This course will introduce participants to
the fundamentals of calligraphic lettering. Participants will develop a final project using lettering as a major component. Instruction will focus on the Roman capital, the source style for all lettering in the Western world. Students will learn how to assemble and use a broad-edge pen to execute genuine Roman capitals by hand. No prior experience in art or calligraphy is necessary, but artists will find this course useful for strengthening their lettering skills.
