It has seen a revival in recent years by the natural building
and sustainability movement. Materials are local, long-lasting, non-toxic and low impact.
It’s easy for anyone to learn
cob building and it promotes community by building together. This workshop is a hands-on introduction.

In Greek mythology, the goddess Mnemosyne (Memory) gave birth to the nine Muses who then grew up to become the inspiration for, and keepers of, The Arts. These mythological offspring continue to archetypally invite our deepest creative expression, and through our relationship with them, we sing, dance, paint, sketch, write, recite, act, make
and create.
The Arts are essential for human maturation and meaning-making and help
us to remember our “true natures”. It has been this way since the beginning
of our history. It is only recently that many have let go of poetic pursuits in favour of a world that is more linear and mechanistic, with perilous results.
Let this be the inspiration to make space in your life to live into your true inheritance as a uniquely, creative human being regardless of what you may think of as “art”.
Art as Spiritual Practice at Hawthorn TATE3925
Art making is uniquely human. Why do we do it? We’ll explore one possible motivation: that art making moves us closer to the divine. Through a mix of hands-on art making activities and lectures that include excerpts from writers, scientists and artists you’ll experience the creative process in a sacred new way. No previous experience in art making is required.
