Find a home
Colwood and Langford are the closest municipalities to RRU and will be the most convenient areas to live while you study. We recommend that you search for accommodation close to bus routes numbered 39, 50, 51, or 52 which stop on or close to campus. If you prefer to live somewhere more lively, there are plenty of options in downtown Victoria; however the commute can range from 25 to 90 minutes depending on mode of transportation and peak traf c times.
You can nd an assortment of options through the available online classi ed directories, and please keep in mind your budget, security, and personal comfort when choosing your off-campus housing.
Homestay
RRU has partnered with the Canada Homestay Network (CHN) to nd your perfect home away from home. CHN can match you with a welcoming family who will provide accommodation and meal plans depending on your needs. Living with a Canadian family gives you the best opportunity to improve your English language skills and to experience Canadian culture. CHN visits all families to make sure their homes are safe, clean and comfortable and that you will get the emotional care and support you need to succeed in your studies. Arrange for a homestay prior to leaving your home country.
If you are considered a minor in British Columbia (de ned as under the age of 19), CHN will act as custodians during your stay in Canada.
On-campus Housing
RRU Campus Housing offers accommodation to distance (online) students for their short-term residencies, but does not currently offer full-time housing.
Campus accommodations may be able to support requests for short term emergency situations for international students who were unable to secure accommodations prior to arriving in Canada. Please make your request by submitting an Emergency Housing Request Form.
Private Houses & Apartments
Searching for private accommodation can be a daunting task, but there are many options, including apartments, suites or entire houses within walking/cycling distance to campus or on regular public transit routes. You are responsible for the search, negotiations, furnishings, utilities, house rules, leases and any landlord – tenant disputes. Your rights and responsibilities as a tenant are outlined in the Residential Tenancy Act. It is important to familiarize yourself with your responsibilities prior to renting.
