Helping students reach their goals
Sometimes, nancial dif culties can stop even the most determined students from completing their education and reaching their goals and ambitions. The Rachel and Ernest Fox Loan Fund at Royal Roads can help put students back on track to success.
It was Rachel Fox’s wish to provide interest-free loans to university students based on scholarship as well as need. She entrusted a gift in her will to the Victoria Foundation, who partnered with Royal Roads University to help make Rachel’s wish a reality.
This unique loan program supports Royal Roads’ commitment to be responsive to a changing economy and the communities we serve, creating strong, innovative partnerships that help reduce nancial barriers to education.

“Okay, I think I can do this, so I’m going to try–and that’s when everything changed.
“It’s through education that we do make a difference in people’s lives and not just through that one person, but through every life they touch–their families, their children. It’s a gift that just gives and gives and gives.”

“Quite simply, without my award, I could not have continued in my educational journey and I would not have ful lled a lifelong dream.
“My Royal Roads professors made
such a positive impact on my life. They were all open to communication and made me feel respected and valued as a learner at Royal Roads.
“If I could do it all over again I would. The knowledge gained from the program and my experience at Royal Roads will be with me always. It has opened my eyes to the power of learning and the possibility to improve not only myself, but also the world we live in.”

Since 2010, interest-free loans from the Rachel and Ernest Fox Loan Fund at Royal Roads University have helped more than 45 people achieve their goals to continue their education.
Confronted with a choice between tuition or living expenses, each loan recipient faced the possiblity of withdrawing from his or her studies. Here is just one example:
An MBA student was furthering her education with support and a tuition sponsorship from her employer. As she approached the end of her studies, her company downsized and she lost her position, along with her tuition sponsorship.
With help from The Rachel and Ernest Fox Loan Fund she successfully completed her studies and graduated with her cohort. She is now a leader in her industry sector.
